If there is one place in Australian wine that is hewn of absolute toil and adversity it is the Hunter Valley. The wine history is the oldest in this country and the environment has had a profound influence on the vignerons and wine styles, resulting in a distinct sense of Terrior. While we are old in wine, we are young in the deeper history of this land, and we pay our respects to the Wonnarua people who have nurtured this country as it's custodians for countless millenia. If our humble assay can give it another voice to the stratified story of this land, my hope is to only make it richer.
Our Rosé has Grenache for spice and beautiful perfume, Mourvèdre for structure and wild brambly notes with Shiraz filling the palate with plushness and fruit depth. Precise and focused, loads of lime and grapefruit with subtle white florals , underpinned by “London Dry Martini with a twist of lime” like power. Juicy and moreish acidity giving crystalline purity with a coiled spring of persistence. This wine will continue to intensify to 10 years at a minimum building complexity as it goes.
A beautiful and clear reflection of the 2023 vintage, elegant and fine with a subtle glide that comes with gentle growing conditions. Grapefruit, custard apple and Meyer lemon infused with grilled hazelnuts and a hint of feijoa. The slinky yet coiled texture slides out from under a blanket of yeast lees and very well integrated oak giving a long silky finish. One for the cellar if you are patient enough.
NEW RELEASE : Our 2023 vintage, regarded as an 'Iconic' vintage in the Hunter has delivered an elevated classically elegant Shiraz with exceptional aging potential. Loaded with Dark rose petal and Black Doris plum over red liquorice and anise spice, this is Hunter Shiraz on song. Svelte and plushily textured tannins with a gentle line of acidity giving radiance and vibrance. Book a slot at the back of your cellar for this one, it is going the distance.
This is powerful and generous Chardonnay reflecting a warm and dry growing season and harvest. Ripe peach and buttered toast, a hint of ripe mango on Crème Brulee. Wild yeast and maturation in older barrels add a silky line of toasted nuts, macadamias and hazelnuts. Slippery acidity gives line and focus on the finish, but this wine is all about style and generosity, like your favourite comfortable armchair, sit back and enjoy the sunset.
Classic lemon, lime and grapefruit fill the aromatic profile of this wine with hints of London dry Gin adding perfume and lift. there is some finger lime and white floral as well. Quartz dust, mineral notes bring a touch of intrigue to the fruit expression on the nose.
