Maraschino cherries, wild raspberry, wild woody herbs, a hint of Rosewood, perfumed with a hint of ethereal lift which will continue to grow. Brown spice rack, cinnamon, nutmeg and a hint of anise and licorice. Some rose petal and floral dimension as well. The Hawkesbury Vineyard near Wanaka in Central Otago is on full display here with elegance and finesse at its heart, layers of complexity ensuring an exciting future in the cellar.
NEW RELEASE / A clear reflection of the 2023 vintage, elegant and fine with a subtle glide that comes with gentle growing conditions. Grapefruit, custard apple and Meyer lemon infused with grilled hazelnuts and a hint of feijoa. The slinky yet coiled texture slides out from under a blanket of yeast lees and very well integrated oak giving a long silky finish. One for the cellar if you are patient enough.
This blend of Hunter Valley and McLaren Vale Shiraz exemplifies the elegance that was once highly prized for its vibrant fruit expression, juicy acidity and seemingly infinite ability to age. A case in point, dark fruits with layers of complexing Christmas cake all wrapping up in a cape of gentle acidity and silky tannins giving warmth and freshness at the same time. Good now but worth wanting a few years if you can. This is proper old school Shiraz, before the days of too much oak and over ripeness, when fruit and finesse were the order of the day.
NEW RELEASE : Delicious Ripe Beurre Bosc Pears with red apples with a hint of Feijoa, subtle musk stick and jasmine adding floral perfume, there is the faintest note of wet rocks as well. Ripe pear infused with lavender and thyme fills out the flavour with supple acidity and a gentle line of textural, persistent plushness. Long and flavoursome yet refined.
Our Rosé has Grenache for spice and beautiful perfume, Mourvèdre for structure and wild brambly notes with Shiraz filling the palate with plushness and fruit depth. Precise and focused, loads of lime and grapefruit with subtle white florals , underpinned by “London Dry Martini with a twist of lime” like power. Juicy and moreish acidity giving crystalline purity with a coiled spring of persistence. This wine will continue to intensify to 10 years at a minimum building complexity as it goes.
A heady blend of Hunter Valley Shiraz, Hilltops Tempranillo and Pinot Noir from Orange collide in a fusion dark red berries, Red Frogs, and exotic rose petal aromatics. Wild herbs and pink peppercorns add aromatic intrigue. Juicy acidity and crunchy tannin complete a piquant textural expression of dark red fruit. Infinity drinkable.

Fresh cut Doris plum and anise add to the classic regional dark cherry and liquorice drive we have come to expect from Central Otago. There is a spicy line of graphite and mineral like texture across the juicy and lifted flavour profile. Supple and silky tannins complete the package of glossy plushness.
