LE FAUVE : Translation 'The Wild Beast'
Le Fauve is the vinous alter ego of Charteris. Each wine aims to tap into a place not too deep in the memory. A place of unencumbered liberty and adventurous abandon. That place for the young at heart, full of experimentation, of running freely through the wild with bare feet, without the weight of caution that the experience of living brings with time.
Le Fauve allows PJ to roam free from his twin trans-Tasman heartlands of the Hunter Valley and Central Otago. Delving into other parts of his adoptive NSW home, this is an opportunity to play with grape varieties and styles that are less preoccupied with place.
NEW RELEASE : Delicious Ripe Beurre Bosc Pears with red apples with a hint of Feijoa, subtle musk stick and jasmine adding floral perfume, there is the faintest note of wet rocks as well. Ripe pear infused with lavender and thyme fills out the flavour with supple acidity and a gentle line of textural, persistent plushness. Long and flavoursome yet refined.
Our Rosé has Grenache for spice and beautiful perfume, Mourvèdre for structure and wild brambly notes with Shiraz filling the palate with plushness and fruit depth. A heady blend of Hunter Valley Shiraz, Hilltops Tempranillo and Pinot Noir from Orange collide in a fusion dark red berries, Red Frogs, and exotic rose petal aromatics. Wild herbs and pink peppercorns add aromatic intrigue. Juicy acidity and crunchy tannin complete a piquant textural expression of dark red fruit. Infinity drinkable.
